TULSA, Okla. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s golf team opened its 2026-2027 season at the NSU Men’s Golf Classic in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Weevils finished the first day tied for ninth place, with a two-round combined score of +13, firing +8 in round one and +5 in round two.
The Weevils shot a combined score of 581, 13-over par. Northeastern State finished atop the leaderboard after day one at 14-under par (554). Fellow Great American Conference member Southern Arkansas sits in second, posting a total of 558 (-10).
Junior Holtz Helms led the Boll Weevils on day one, tied for 8th place at 3-under par (139). Helms posted a first-round score of 69 (-2), followed by a second-round score of 70 (-1).
Junior Carson Slaughter finished day one tied for 14th place at even par (142). Slaughter fired a first-round score of 69 (-2) before posting a second-round score of 73 (+2).
Junior Landry Rogers finished tied for 33rd place at 3-over par (145), after firing a first-round score of 75 (+4) and a second-round score of 70 (-1).
Incoming freshman Rhett Clanton finished 73rd at 13-over par (155). Clanton posted a first-round score of 79 (+8) before improving by three strokes with a second-round score of 76 (+5).
Senior Connor Denson closed out the Weevils on day one in 75th place at 15-over par (157), after posting a first-round score of 80 (+9) and a second-round score of 77 (+6).
