BETHANY, Okla. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello football team returned to the road Saturday afternoon, traveling to a Great American Conference matchup with Southern Nazarene University. The teams battled through four quarters before SNU ultimately claimed the 40-34 victory in overtime.
Arkansas-Monticello produced a season-high 491 yards of total offense, rushing for 282 yards while adding 209 through the air. The Weevils averaged 8.3 yards per play and picked up 25 first downs in the contest.
Quarterback Drew Forkner completed 14-of-19 passes for 209 yards and three touchdowns. Josh Scott led UAM with 57 receiving yards on one catch, while Isaiah Roberts hauled in three passes for 52 yards and a touchdown. RJ Hairston added three receptions for 49 yards and a score, while Michael Lott’s lone reception went for a 28-yard touchdown.
Dave Alston turned in his third consecutive 100-yard rushing performance, carrying the ball 22 times for 160 yards and a touchdown while averaging 7.3 yards per attempt. Braylon Henry added 94 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries, giving the duo 254 combined rushing yards. Forkner added 17 yards on three attempts, while DT McCoy picked up 11 yards on his lone carry.
Defensively, Rashaad Jackson led Arkansas-Monticello with eight total tackles, including six solo stops. Lonnie Leverette followed with seven tackles, while Keith Wells Jr. totaled six. Leverette and Wells combined for UAM’s lone sack, and Nasjae Richardson forced a fumble on SNU’s opening possession that Jackson Moore recovered to set up the first score of the afternoon.

First Quarter
– 11:34 – UAM | The Weevil defense created an early opportunity when Nasjae Richardson forced a fumble on Southern Nazarene’s opening possession, recovered by Jackson Moore at the SNU 41. Dave Alston immediately broke off a 26-yard run before DT McCoy added 11 more. Alston eventually punched it in from two yards out to give UAM an early 7-0 lead.
– 06:14 – SNU | Southern Nazarene tied the game at 7-7 on a 4-yard rushing touchdown.
– 00:12 – UAM | Backed up at its own 1-yard line, Arkansas-Monticello put together one of its biggest drives of the afternoon. Forkner opened the possession with a 57-yard completion to Josh Scott, then connected with Jaiden Cockerham for nine yards. Forkner then found Michael Lott for a 28-yard touchdown to complete the four-play, 99-yard scoring drive and put UAM ahead, 14-7.
Second Quarter
– 11:09 – SNU | The Crimson Storm tied the game at 14-14 on a 7-yard rushing touchdown.
– 06:48 – UAM | UAM answered with a nine-play, 79-yard drive. Facing fourth-and-seven from the SNU 32, Forkner found Isaiah Roberts for a 32-yard touchdown, putting Arkansas-Monticello back in front, 21-14.
– 02:44 – SNU | Southern Nazarene scored on a 1-yard rushing touchdown to tie the game at 21-21.
– 00:42 – UAM | Henry opened UAM’s next possession with a 33-yard run before Forkner connected with Hairston for eight yards to move the chains. Two plays later, Forkner found Hairston again for a 24-yard touchdown, giving the Weevils a 27-21 advantage.
– 00:00 – SNU | Southern Nazarene connected on a 50-yard field goal as time expired, sending UAM into halftime with a 27-24 lead.
Third Quarter
– 07:51 – SNU | A 32-yard field goal tied the game at 27-27.
– 01:11 – SNU | Southern Nazarene scored on a 4-yard rushing touchdown to take its first lead of the afternoon, 34-27.
Fourth Quarter
– 10:39 – UAM | The Weevils responded with an 11-play, 68-yard drive that began late in the third quarter. Alston carried for gains of 13 and nine yards to get the drive started before Henry added runs of 11 and five. Forkner scrambled eight yards to the SNU 1-yard line, where Henry finished the possession with a 1-yard touchdown. Charles Stinson converted the PAT to tie the game at 34-34.
The UAM defense forced a Southern Nazarene punt on the ensuing possession, giving the Weevils the ball at their own 15 with 6:44 remaining. Arkansas-Monticello then marched 62 yards on 10 plays, highlighted by runs of 16 yards from Henry and 18 yards from Alston, to set up a potential go-ahead 40-yard field goal. The attempt missed with 1:08 remaining, and the game eventually headed to overtime tied at 34.
Overtime
– UAM received the first possession of overtime at the SNU 25-yard line. A penalty on the opening play pushed the Weevils backward, and the drive eventually resulted in a 50-yard field-goal attempt that went wide.
– SNU | Southern Nazarene scored on a 25-yard rushing touchdown on the first play of its overtime possession to secure the 40-34 final.

UAM football will return to Monticello next weekend to host Oklahoma Baptist University for the 2026 homecoming game. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10.
