Flowers Foods, Inc. has issued a recall for certain packages of Nature’s Own Hawaiian Bread because the products may contain milk that is not declared on the label.
The recall includes 20-ounce single loaves and 40-ounce two-packs of Nature’s Own Hawaiian Bread distributed to retailers in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas, according to a notice published Monday, Oct. 5, by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk could experience a serious allergic reaction if they eat the affected bread.
The recalled 20-ounce Nature’s Own Hawaiian Bread carries UPC 0 72250 91662 2. Affected packages have “Best If Used By” dates ranging from Oct. 8, 2026, through Oct. 18, 2026, along with certain production codes printed on the package.
The recall also includes 40-ounce two-packs of Nature’s Own Hawaiian Bread with UPC 0 72250 00683 5.
Flowers Foods said the problem was discovered during a review of production records, which showed that certain packages did not list milk as an ingredient.
No illnesses or other incidents related to the recalled products have been reported as of the FDA announcement.
Consumers who have affected bread are advised not to eat it if they have a milk allergy. The product should be discarded or returned to the place where it was purchased for a full refund.
Consumers with questions may contact the Flowers Foods Consumer Relations Center at 1-866-245-8921, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
The company announced the recall Oct. 2, and the FDA published the recall notice Oct. 5.
