Re-New-ing Edinburg members discussed several community improvement projects and fundraising efforts during their October 20 meeting at the New Edinburg Community Center.
Among the projects discussed were repairs to lighting at Veterans Park and improvements to the community center sign.
Allen Quimby offered recommendations for replacing deteriorated boards on the sign and indicated his willingness to assist when repairs are scheduled.
Members approved purchasing new letters and installation channels for the sign, while Luis Tolano agreed to help address the lighting issues.
Treasurer Roger McClellan also reported that four remaining bricks are awaiting installation, with plans to complete the work following the arrival of cooler weather.
The organization approved a $300 donation to the community center to assist with the cost of lighting used at Veterans Park and the community center sign.
Members also discussed an additional junk sale held October 10 by Melody Spears and Brenda Triplett.
Following the organization’s September junk hunt, members agreed to allow the New Edinburg Community Center group to continue conducting sales through December, with proceeds benefiting the community center. Another sale was being considered for November.
The group also received an update on the former school bus barn, which remains in the process of being transferred to the community center. No new developments were reported at the October meeting.
Re-New-ing Edinburg’s next scheduled meeting is November 17.
