Cooler Temps Bring ‘False Fall’ to Arkansas, But Heat Will Return

WARREN, Ark. 8-26-25 — Arkansas is getting a taste of cooler weather this week, but meteorologist Zachary Hall of Arkansas Storm Tracker warns that it’s only a “false fall.”

Hall explained in a recent update that a front has moved into the state, shifting the weather pattern for the next several days. Most Arkansans will avoid the 90s, with highs staying in the upper 80s or even the 70s and low 80s in some areas. Morning temperatures are expected to dip into the 50s and 60s, making for a crisp, fall-like start to the day.

“With cooler temperatures, especially with cloud cover or rain, it will feel very early fall-like at times,” Hall wrote. “People will decorate for fall and think it is here to stay. Don’t spoil it for them, let them enjoy this.”

Today, Tuesday, August 26, many in south Arkansas are already feeling the change. And while “cool down” might be a stretch—it’s simply not 104 degrees—it does bring a noticeable break from the extreme heat earlier this month.

Hall reminded Arkansans not to be fooled: “Fall isn’t here to stay, September is a hot month and we will warm back up eventually.” He added that while 100-degree days may be behind us, the heat is likely not done for good.

For now, residents can enjoy the brief taste of autumn, even if it’s just a temporary trick of the weather.
