Molly D. Summerford, 1939-2026

Molly D. Summerford Flemister, age 87, of Monticello, AR, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 1, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 18, 1939, in Monticello, AR, to the late Monty “Bud” and Eula Mae Sivils Summerford.

She was a devoted wife and mother, but even more profoundly, she was a devoted Christian who accepted the Lord as her Savior at the tender age of 11. Throughout her life, Molly faithfully exemplified Christ’s love, allowing her light to shine brightly for the Lord in every place she went. Her spiritual journey of service began at age 15 when she started teaching Sunday School at Second Baptist Church on Pine Street in Monticello. Molly later became a faithful member of Enon Baptist Church in Monticello, where she continued to joyfully serve the Lord with grace, humility, and unwavering commitment. She was a member of the Drew County Extension Homemakers Club for 25 years plus and she was also a member of Eastern Star for 39 years, serving as Worthy Matron.

Molly dedicated 30 years plus of service to the Monticello Public School District, where she found immense joy in interacting with and encouraging the children. She also worked at the Barbara Abston Monticello Senior Citizen Center, where her compassionate spirit, welcoming smile, and servant’s heart allowed her to form meaningful friendships while enriching the lives of those she served.

In addition to her parents, Molly was preceded in death by one son, Eric Len Flemister; brothers, Jimmy Summerford and John David Summerford; sisters, Sarah Elizabeth Summerfod, Mary Ilene Dumon, and Betty Maxine Murry; and one granddaughter, Tina Morley.

Left to forever cherish her precious memory is her beloved husband of 67 years, Edgar Larry Flemister of Monticello, AR, whom she married on June 25, 1959; her adored son, Eddie Flemister and compassionate daughter-in-law, Tammie Flemister of Decatur, TX; foster daughter, Billie Jo Dye of Graford, TX; treasured grandchildren, Brittany Haynes and spouse Jeffery of White Hall, AR, Kodi Lee Pittman and spouse Zack of Sanger, TX, Krystal Schulz and spouse Justin of Ponder, TX, and Jesika Smith Hill and spouse Jake of Waco, TX; precious great-grandchildren, Jacob Len Flemister, Cason Catalanotto, Asher Catalanotto, Shepard Edgar Pittman, Jake Ellingwood and spouse Haley, Ransom Morley, Mekenzie Morley, Emary Morley, Blane Schulz, and Tyson Schulz; a joyous great-greatgrandchild, Kohen Ellingwood; her loving sister, Dot Marcussen of Monticello, AR; dear sister-in-law, Mary Cathryn Flemister of Monticello, AR; along with a host of cherished nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends-whose lives were richly blessed by knowing her.

Molly’s life was a beautiful testament to enduring faith, wholehearted dedication to her Lord, compassionate service, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who were privileged to know her, and her memory will remain forever engraved in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Enon Baptist Church. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Enon Baptist Church in Monticello, AR. Burial will be in Union Ridge Cemetery in Drew County, AR. Arrangements by Frazer’s Funeral Home.
