Members of Re-New-Edinburg met Monday, August 17, to discuss several upcoming community events, including the Historic Junk Hunt, a community center fundraiser and participation in the 2026 Great Arkansas Cleanup.
President Trenna Kemp called the meeting to order. Members were provided copies of the previous meeting’s minutes, which were approved following a motion by Melody Spears and a second by Don Triplett.
A financial statement was also distributed and discussed briefly. The statement will be filed for audit.
Kemp informed the group that the Historic Junk Hunt is scheduled for September 24-26. Members decided to wait to see if temperatures cool before setting dates to begin preparations for the event.
Melody Spears reported that October 10 is the proposed date for a community center fundraiser. The menu for the fundraiser is expected to be determined before the organization’s next meeting.
Patricia McClellan told members that registration is now open for the fall portion of the 2026 Great Arkansas Cleanup. McClellan made a motion for Re-New-Edinburg to participate, which was seconded by Roger McClellan and approved by the group.
Members also reviewed several upcoming events in the area. The Get Rhythm Festival, which had been scheduled for September 26 in Kingsland, has been canceled.

- Special election for the state Senate race — August 18
- Cleveland County Rodeo — September 11-12
- Cleveland County Fair — September 15-19
- Historic Junk Hunt — September 24-26
- Rison in the Fall — October 10
- Fall candy drive-thru event — October 31
- Veterans luncheon — October 31
- Santa Visit — December 18-19
Those attending the meeting included Trenna Kemp, David Kemp, Melody Spears, Brenda Triplett, Martha Tolano, Roger McClellan, Shelia Towery, Patricia McClellan, Don Triplett and Luis Tolano.
The meeting adjourned following a motion by Don Triplett and a second by Shelia Towery.
