The Rotary Club of Warren met Tuesday, Oct. 27 inside the Donald W. Reynolds YMCA of Warren and Bradley County for its final meeting of the month. Warren High School Junior Rotarians were first on the docket as Gabriella Corcules and Raeleigh Milton both spoke to the crowd about their current accolades, future plans, and more.

The meeting transitioned to the program of Leslie Abbott Boone, who educated the crowd about the organization Victims’ Rights Arkansas. Her twin sister, Laura Abbott, founded the organization after her own personal experience with domestic abuse and wanted to make a difference for victims. One of the most important aspects of this is Laura’s Card that is given to victims of crimes with a list of resources and rights. This non-profit also educates Arkansans about victims’ rights and resources at the local, state, and national level. Additionally, they have helped pass seven pieces of legislation concerning victims’ rights in the state. Leslie told Laura’s story to the crowd and explained how she helps Laura with this initiative. She answered a few questions to conclude the program. The Rotary Club of Warren’s next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 10.
