Sonya Taylor, a fifth-grade math teacher at Brunson Elementary School in Warren, was among 50 outstanding Arkansas educators recognized during the Arkansas Merit Teacher Appreciation Reception held October 20, 2026, at the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion in Little Rock.

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Second Lady Usha Vance recognized the educators for their achievements through the state’s Merit Teacher Incentive Fund, established under the Arkansas LEARNS Act.

The reception celebrated teachers who had previously received bonuses through the program, which recognizes outstanding educators across Arkansas.

Taylor represented the Warren School District at the event, bringing recognition to Brunson Elementary School and the local education community.

In a social media post on October 29, the Warren School District congratulated Taylor on her achievement and expressed pride in her recognition.

“Warren School District is proud to have one of our own represented at this special event!” the district stated. “Congratulations, Mrs. Taylor, on this well-deserved recognition!”
