NEW EDINBURG, Ark. – The Re-New-ing Edinburg group met on April 21, 2026, at the New Edinburg Community Center, with several members in attendance including Melody Spears, Martha Tolano, Roger McClellan, Patricia McClellan, Linda Hornaday, Brenda Triplett, Don Triplett, Kathy Waldrop, and David Kemp.
Roger McClellan, vice president, opened the meeting in the absence of Trenna Kemp. The March minutes were distributed to those present and had also been previously emailed. A motion to approve the minutes as presented was made by Melody Spears and seconded by Linda Hornaday. The motion passed.
Linda Hornaday, treasurer, provided the financial statement. Following a brief discussion, the report will be filed for audit.
Under old business, McClellan reported that a new 5-by-7-foot flag had been installed at the veteran’s park. He also noted that the final four bricks for the park were received last week; however, one of the bricks was incorrect. The brick company is in the process of replacing it, and installation will take place once the correct brick arrives.
Members were reminded that the Great American Trash Cleanup will continue through May 31. Spears reported that she has collected trash along 6.2 miles, contributing approximately five volunteer hours. Cleanup efforts have taken place on Mt. Lebanon Road, Towery Road, Ron Scott Road, Old School Road, Mt. Elba Road, and Farm to Market. In addition, flower boxes in New Edinburg were recently refurbished, stained, and planted with summer flowers as part of a beautification project. Flags have also been mounted on poles throughout the downtown area.
The group also reported that the spring junk hunt was another successful event. McClellan, Patricia McClellan, Spears, Brenda Triplett, and Luis gathered items in Sheridan for the upcoming fall junk hunt on Monday, April 13. Approximately 46½ volunteer hours were recorded on that date.
No decision was made regarding a May game night. A motion to adjourn was made by Don Triplett and seconded by David Kemp. The motion passed.
