Hermitage School District students turned in an impressive showing during livestock competition at the Southeast Arkansas District Fair this week, earning a number of class wins, reserve championships and top overall finishes.
Emma Parker led the way with several strong finishes in the swine competition. Parker placed second and first in market classes, finished third in the Hampshire Division and earned sixth overall Market Hog. She also placed first in the Commercial Gilts Reserve Class and was named Reserve Senior Showmanship.
Charlie Parker placed third in his Market Class.
Caroline Outlaw earned first place in the Commercial Gilt Class and fourth in her Market Class before finishing as Reserve Grand Champion in Commercial Gilts.
Emma Outlaw recorded several strong results in the cattle shows, placing first in the Maintainer Breeding Heifer Class and earning Reserve Grand Champion Maintainer Breeding Heifer. She also placed third in the English Commercial Heifer Class.
Madison Outlaw finished fifth overall in the Market Hog competition.
Aubree Knuckles placed third in the Dark Cross Market Class, third in a Market Class and finished eighth overall among Market Hogs.
Kouper Harrod earned first place in the Commercial Gilt Class and second place in a Market Class.
Kaysen Harrod placed second in a Market Class, while Kenzley Harrod finished fourth in a Market Class.
Jake Herring earned second place in a Market Class, Cooper McKinney placed second in the Commercial Gilt Class and Stormy Doss finished second in a Market Class.
Hermitage students also found success in the goat competition. Ruby Baker placed second in the Market Goat Class, while Emma Johnson earned first place in the Market Goat Class and was named Reserve Champion Market Goat.
The Hermitage School District congratulated the students for their accomplishments and the work involved in preparing their animals for competition.
“We are very proud of these students and the work that they put into raising and showing their livestock,” the district said.
