The Lumberjacks end their season with an 11-10 overall record and were part of a three-way tie for the 4A-8 Conference Championship. The Jacks were the two seed after tiebreakers. Tonight’s game was scheduled for first pitch at 5:30 p.m., but didn’t start until more than two hours later at 7:40 p.m., after the other games ran long. The win improves Camden Fairview to 16-11 and clinches a berth in the 4A State Tournament.

The Cardinals got off to a fast start with a two-out solo long ball in the top of the first. The Orange and Black looked to even the score or take the lead in the bottom half after Tucker McDiarmid was hit by a pitch and stole second base. Jackson Denton ripped a one-out single to left field to put runners on the corners with one out. Denton took second base, but two strikeouts kept the score 1-0 in favor of Camden Fairview.

Warren threatened in the bottom of the second with a one-out single by Logan Case and two-out walk by Aceen Jurado. However, another strikeout kept the Jacks off the scoreboard. The score remained the same until the top of the fourth inning. Ren Reep struck out the first two batters of the frame, but two consecutive walks came around to score on a double to extend the Cardinals’ advantage to 3-0.

Camden Fairview would add to the lead in the fifth inning after the first two batters reached. A RBI groundout would push the score to 4-0 and a two-out single scored another to make it 5-0. Warren fought back in the bottom of the frame with a one-out walk by McDiarmid and single by Reep. McDiarmid advanced to third and Reep advanced to second on the throw. McDiarmid would score the Lumberjacks’ first run on a wild pitch and Reep scored on an error when the catcher attempted to pick him off third base to put the tally at 5-2.

The Cardinals picked up a run on an RBI triple in the sixth inning and Warren was retired in order in the bottom half. The Jacks kept Fairview off the scoreboard in the seventh and a two-out walk to McDiarmid in the bottom half forced a pitching change. However, a strikeout ended the game and sealed the 6-2 win for Camden Fairview.

Camden Fairview out hit Warren by a slight margin of 6-4, but five of their hits went for extra bases and four of them drove in runs. The Jacks’s hits, by contrast, were all singles and did not drive in any runs. The team also struck out 13 times and walked three times.

Reep’s final appearance in a Lumberjack uniform was a solid start on the mound. The senior struck out six and allowed five runs on four hits in 4 2/3 innings. Parker O’Neal punched out three over the final 2 1/3 innings.

McDiarmid filled out the stat sheet despite not getting a hit. The junior reached base three times (two walks, one hit-by-pitch), scored a run, and stole a base. Reep, Denton, Case, and O’Neal each had one hit for the Jacks.
