Daise Gardener was born on August 2, 1931 to the union of Audrey and Rosie Davis. in Gravel Ridge, AR. She was the second oldest of six siblings. In addition to helping raise some of her younger brothers and sisters, Daise was also foster mother to a number of youth in Arkansas. Daise lived on the same farm her entire life.
Daise Gardener received her formal education at Gravel Ridge High School in Gravel Ridge, AR.
Daise Gardener accepted Christ as her savior at an early age and was united with Oklone Primitive Baptist Church where she served as a clerk and secretary.
In 1945 she married Luke Childs, the marriage lasted 25 years until his passing. Daise would latter married James Gardener on January 15, 1975.
She was employed by as a teacher’s aid for until her retirement. In her leisure, she enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting and loved going to church. She was also a registered poll worker and enjoyed taking part in the election system.
Daise Gardener departed this life on June 23, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Audrey and Rosie Davis; first husband, Luke Childs; and second husband, James Gardener.
She leaves to cherish her memory her dear sister, Stella Colon of Milwaukee, WI; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; and dear or close friends.
Funeral service was held 11:00 a.m. Sunday, July 7, 2024 at The Hermitage Community Center. Burial followed in Hall Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home.
